The road to stardom is often paved with amazing and devastating public and private events. Whether it’s a turbulent family drama, harrowing substance abuse, outlandish spending habits or a combination of those and more, these celebrities all paid a hefty price for their fame. Giving viewers an intimate perspective on each story are personal accounts from the celebrity’s family members and friends in addition to entertainment journalists who covered the rise, fall and sometimes rise again of the stars.

Wham! Much like the name of his ‘80s pop band, George Michael’s rise to success was fast. One of the best-selling music artists of all time with over 100 million records sold, George Michael briefly outsold musical giants such as Madonna, Prince and even Michael Jackson. However, struggles with his recording label and personal life dampened his iconic legacy after he was caught soliciting sex from an undercover officer at a rest stop – thus, essentially outing his homosexuality. Although he never again equaled his sensational fame of the 1980s, George Michael did continue to impact lives through his music, social activism, and philanthropy. His life would unfortunately be cut short at 53 years of age, with the exact cause still being debated to this day.

A look inside the success and struggles of the late music icon George Michael.

Told through scripted drama reconstructions and exclusive interviews with those who knew him.
