DEBUT 'SHORTY' EPISODE
Growing up in the UK before the dawn of smartphones and tablet computers, once I had graduated Blue Peter and 'the broom cupboard', my screentime pretty much amounted to the compulsive watching of soap operas. Emmerdale and Coronation Street felt geographically close to home, but Brookside and Eastenders always had the edge dramatically and were a little edgier and more daring.
What feels like a lifetime later, it is such a thrill to have written my first episode for the New Zealand soap opera, Shortland Street. On the air since 1992, the nations most-watched drama broadcasts five nights every week, following the admissions and affairs at the busy Shortland Street Hospital. My debut episode is scheduled to air early March! I'm delighted to be working with South Pacific Pictures and super grateful for the opportunity to write for this Kiwi institution!
